Edmonton Islamic Academy is seeking a qualified and passionate Online Learning Arabic Language Teacher to join our growing team. We are looking for an outstanding educator who is committed to creating engaging virtual learning experiences for students in Grades 7–9 enrolled in our Bloom Teacher Directed Program .The ideal candidate is passionate about Arabic language instruction and can inspire students to develop their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and comprehension skills.
This role requires an educator who is highly organized, adaptable, and technology-proficient, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and parents while supporting learning in an online environment.
This position follows a hybrid work model, with four days per week on-site at Edmonton Islamic Academy and one day per week working remotely. This position has an FTE of 0.5.
Key Responsibilities Teach Arabic language courses to home education students through live online instruction and virtual learning platforms. Develop engaging lessons that promote Arabic language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, and grammar. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying Arabic language abilities, from beginner to advanced levels. Create individualized learning plans and instructional strategies that support student success.
Foster an engaging and interactive online learning environment that encourages active student participation. Monitor student progress, provide meaningful feedback, and maintain accurate academic records. Assess student learning through assignments, projects, presentations, quizzes, and other formative and summative assessments. Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding academic progress, expectations, and support strategies. Create and manage digital learning resources using online platforms and educational technology.
Collaborate with administration, fellow teachers, and support staff to support student success. Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school initiatives. Foster an appreciation for Arabic language and culture while contributing positively to a faith-based learning environment. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent post-secondary education and teaching experience. Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility to obtain certification is considered an asset.
Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written). Experience teaching Arabic language to elementary and/or secondary students. Strong knowledge of Arabic language instruction, including grammar, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, writing, and oral communication. Experience teaching students with diverse language abilities and learning needs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Demonstrated ability to teach and engage students in an online learning environment.
Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace Experience creating digital learning resources and managing online classrooms. Strong organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple students and responsibilities. Commitment to student success and continuous professional growth. Experience in home education, online learning, or alternative education programs is considered an asset. Experience in a faith-based or culturally diverse educational environment is considered an asset.
Work Environment Hybrid work model consisting of four (4) days on-site and one (1) day remote per week. Daily interaction with students occurs primarily through virtual platforms and online learning tools. Requires flexibility to support students and families through scheduled online instruction, one-on-one meetings, and ongoing digital communication. Frequent use of educational technology, Google Workspace, and digital collaboration tools is essential.
