Job Summary
We are looking for two highly experienced Link Tutors to join our pastoral support team and work alongside our existing Link Tutors supporting students in KS3 and KS4. These are fixed‑term positions for one year to cover members of the service on secondment. The role is highly rewarding, with a pastoral focus that supports students in accessing educational provision in their homes and schools and aids their transition back to their main school or other identified setting.
The role is peripatetic and county‑wide, requiring regular contact and visits to the home of our students.
- Understand the graduated pathway and adopt a student‑centred approach.
- Work with other professional agencies supporting young people of school age.
- Place a high value on safeguarding.
- Be well organised, work independently and manage time effectively.
- Be flexible and creative to achieve successful outcomes for all students.
- Work peripatetic across the county, visiting students' homes and schools to identify barriers to learning, develop strategies, and support wellbeing.
- Coordinate with Social Care, medical professionals, parents, mainstream schools, and academic staff at GHES.
- Attend TAF, CIN, CP, PEPs, and Graduated Pathway meetings.
- Facilitate carefully planned reintegration or transition to the mainstream school, alternative provision or post‑16 destination.
- Apply Non‑Violent Resistant (NVR) principles, demonstrating a commitment to de‑escalation, relational connection and persistent, respectful support in the face of challenge.
- Experience working with children with additional needs and with professionals in the education system.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with students, parents and professionals.
- Firm belief that a medical condition should not stop a child reaching their full potential.
- Takes pride in work and thrives in a busy environment.
- Ability to organise themselves and plan their week.
- Ensures student voice is at the heart of every decision.
- Provides the right level of support and challenge to access education.
- Willing to be flexible and adaptable with tasks as they arise.
- Confident communication with students, parents, NHS professionals.
- Good ICT skills, especially with Microsoft Office and SIMS.
This term‑time only role requires 36 hours per week (39 + 5.55 holiday weeks), effectively 0.87 FTE. Work includes a blend of remote working, travel to student homes or schools, and time in our classroom spaces in Cheltenham and Gloucester. Hybrid working arrangements are available for the majority of roles.
