Post Graduate Fellow in Medical Education
Closing date: 07 July 2026.
CT3 or ST4‑6 (current level) Fellow in Medical Education – 12‑month fixed term out of programme experience (OOPE) at North East London NHS Foundation Trust.
OverviewThis post supports CT3/ST4‑6s who wish to commit to education within their clinical career. The 12‑month OOPE allows the fellow to build teaching experience, develop expertise in educational theory and practice, and undertake supervised educational research under a designated educational mentor.
Main duties- Develop a sustained commitment to education and undertake a Masters or equivalent postgraduate education programme.
- Attend monthly learning sets and London Deanery faculty development courses as attendee, participant observer, teacher or co‑facilitator.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the Trust’s postgraduate education programme for resident doctors and medical professionals.
- Carry out projects in medical education under the supervision of the Director of Medical Education, the medical education manager and postgraduate tutors.
- Maintain clinical involvement by completing two sessions of clinical work per week in a chosen psychiatric subspecialty.
- Work within a hybrid structure, including remote work from the simulation centre or other sites as required.
- CT3 or ST4‑6 in a recognised psychiatry specialty training programme.
- Educational experience, e.g., previous teaching or involvement in medical education.
- Commitment to continuing professional development.
- Understanding and ability to apply a range of educational concepts.
- Personal motivation and reasons for applying for the Fellowship.
This post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
