Position Title
IS 100-397 - Introduction to International Studies - Fall 2026 - Online
Job Overview
This interdisciplinary course introduces students to a range of global issues, including the basics of world geography, history, political and economic systems, and culture. The course provides a cross-cultural perspective and a foundation for students to specialize in their area of interest within the international studies program.
Responsibilities
Deliver the course online.
Hold one office hour per week.
Prepare instructional materials prior to start date and complete grading tasks after the termination date, as required for sessional lecturers.
Qualifications
MA or PhD in International Studies, Political Science, or a related discipline.
Preference is given in the following order: (1) PhDs; (2) completed all PhD coursework and are enrolled in a PhD program; (3) completed all PhD coursework but not currently enrolled; (4) enrolled in a PhD program but not completed coursework; (5) Masters degree.
Experience in teaching or research related to the course’s subject matter.
A record of effective teaching at the post-secondary level.
Teaching Experience Documentation
A teaching philosophy statement.
All course outlines and aggregated student evaluations from the last two academic years in which the applicant taught university-level courses.
At least one of the following documents:
Student comments from teaching evaluations.
A letter of peer evaluation of teaching.
A reflective teaching statement with an emphasis on recent teaching.
