Sessional Lecturer – Environmental Remote Sensing (Sci) – GGR
337H5F

Course Description

Introductory course that emphasizes mastering fundamental remote sensing concepts and utilizes remotely sensed data for monitoring land resources and environmental change. Topics include surface‑energy interactions, sensor systems, image interpretation, and applications for examining soil, vegetation and water resources. Students graduate with knowledge and skills to pursue advanced work in digital image processing and remote sensing applications. [24L/12P]

Sessional Dates of Appointment

September 1 to December 30, 2026

Salary

CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement: $9,997.48 (Half course) / $19,994.95 (Full course). Rates inclusive of vacation pay.
NOTE: if rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary, those rates prevail.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Geomatics or a related field.
  • Proficient with ErDAS and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Previous teaching experience in a similar course.
  • Rank of Sessional Lecturer II or III considered preferential.
Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver course content.
  • Develop, administer, and mark assignments, tests, and exams.
  • Calculate and submit grades.
  • Hold regular office hours.
  • Supervise teaching assistants assigned to the course.
  • Order necessary readings and materials.
