Role Description The Robotics Tutor – Online will deliver live, interactive online classes that introduce students to robotics concepts, programming fundamentals, and related STEM topics using age-appropriate tools and platforms. In this contract, remote role, the tutor will prepare lesson plans, demonstrations, and project-based activities that support different learning styles and skill levels. Responsibilities include guiding students through hands-on robotics projects, providing clear explanations of technical concepts, answering questions, and offering constructive feedback on assignments.
The tutor will monitor student progress, adjust pacing as needed, and help create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging virtual classroom environment. Additional tasks may include collaborating with the curriculum team, attending training sessions, and using online teaching tools to manage scheduling, materials, and communication with learners and guardians.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of robotics and STEM education, including familiarity with common educational robotics platforms and basic electronics or mechanical concepts.
Proficiency in introductory programming languages or visual coding tools (e.g., Scratch, block-based coding, Python) used in teaching robotics to K–12 students.
Experience teaching or tutoring children online, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly and adapt instruction to different ages and skill levels.
Comfort with online education tools and virtual classroom platforms, including screen sharing, interactive whiteboards, and learning management systems.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills, with a commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
Organizational skills to plan lessons, manage time effectively during sessions, and track student progress and outcomes.
Background in education, computer science, engineering, or a related field; prior experience in robotics clubs, competitions, or makerspaces is a plus.
Reliable high-speed internet connection, suitable computer equipment, and a quiet workspace for conducting online classes.
Availability to teach during after-school hours or weekends, depending on student schedules and program needs.
