Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Friday, 09:00-17:00

East Lothian Works is currently recruiting an Employability Intervention Officer (EIO) to join our dedicated Schools Team.

The Schools Team delivers support across all East Lothian secondary schools, helping young people to access and sustain participation in a wide range of certificated opportunities. These include East Lothian Works pre vocational courses, School–College Partnership programmes, and provision delivered in collaboration with external partners.

The Employability Intervention Officer will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of these opportunities and will be responsible for overseeing a set of allocated courses, working closely with the Project Officer, school staff and delivery partners to ensure high-quality learner experiences and outcomes.

Key responsibilities include working with schools to support learner recruitment, induction and engagement. Monitor and promote attendance, participation, and progression of young people enrolled on our courses and tracking and supporting learner progress and attainment.

Additionally, the EIO will carry an active caseload of young people who require targeted support, including working with individuals identified by colleagues to explore and identify suitable post-school destinations providing tailored guidance and support.

Please Note:
All home/hybrid workers must live in the UK. Where an application for home-working is supported, it will be subject to a satisfactory trial period. Employees will be expected to attend Council offices for the duration of induction, and be on site in East Lothian workplaces, as required. Employees with a hybrid working arrangement in place will be office based and able to work from home, with permission, on an ad hoc basis.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HNC/SVQ3 in Childcare and Development or Social Care or Working with Communities or equivalent and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

In the absence of the formal qualification stated above, the jobholder should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working within the employability sector and have experience of providing 1:1 and delivering group work sessions to individuals with barriers to employment. In addition, they are required to have an understanding of the local employability landscape and Scottish Government and local drivers.

Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.

PVG Membership
