This part-time Mathematics Teacher role is a hybrid position based in Calgary, AB, with some flexibility for work from home where appropriate. The teacher will plan and deliver engaging mathematics lessons aligned with the Alberta Education curriculum for Grade 7-9 students, using inquiry-based and student-centred approaches. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson plans and assessments, providing clear instruction and differentiated support, and integrating mathematics into broader interdisciplinary projects when possible.
The teacher will monitor and evaluate student progress, provide regular feedback to learners and families, and maintain accurate records. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues, participating in school meetings and community activities, and contributing to a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports each student’s holistic development.
- Strong subject-matter expertise in Mathematics and Mathematics Education appropriate for Grade 7-9 learners.
- Demonstrated experience with Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development aligned with Alberta Education standards.
- Status as a Qualified Teacher with Alberta teaching certification (or eligibility), and experience teaching in school settings.
- Skill in designing inquiry-based, student-centred learning experiences and differentiating instruction for diverse learners.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to inclusive and responsive teaching practices.
- Ability to use educational technologies to support instruction, assessment, and hybrid learning environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field with a focus on mathematics; additional training in child development or special education is an asset.
