About the role as an HE Online tutor Digital Technology:

As a subject tutor, you will teach, support, guide, and assess group(s) of learners across our Higher Education online courses. You will play a crucial role in this award-winning delivery model, building on the online self‑paced resources learners will complete to ensure that learners have a positive and enriching experience throughout their entire learning journey. In addition to the self‑paced learning resources, you will have access to resources to support live sessions.

Between designated weekly teaching hours, prompt assessment and marking their work, and providing personalised 1‑1 support where needed, you will ensure your learners have all the support they need to succeed in building a better career profile.

We're looking for tutors to teach on courses including the following subjects:

  • Computing
  • Digital Technologies
  • Data Analytics
  • Cyber Security
  • Software Programming
  • Databases
  • Software Development

In addition to these responsibilities, you will be liaising with other staff to enhance learner engagement, monitor their progress and provide timely interventions.

This is a casual contract set to start in August 2026. Salary will be dependent on learner achievement.

What do you need to be successful as an Online Tutor at Activate Learning?

Successful candidates will need to have a relevant level 4 qualification within Digital Technology, or relevant industry experience to support their teaching.

You will have an understanding of how people learn and be able to show demonstrable experience of working independently. You should be able to build strong relationships quickly, even via remote meetings. It would be desirable to have experience teaching up to level 6 specifically, and to have experience working with online learners.

You do not need to be a qualified teacher; however, having emotional intelligence and the ability to support online learners and work collaboratively remotely are essential skills for this role. Full training will be provided on our award-winning online platform for the right candidate.

As this is a home‑based role with many of our students studying in the evening, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we aspire to develop within our learners. You can be based anywhere in the UK to do this role.
