About the RoleTo lead and deliver a highly adapted English curriculum and whole-school literacy strategy for students with complex SEND. This role combines classroom leadership with a vital outreach function to deliver home-based tuition for children missing education (CME), supporting their academic progress and eventual reintegration.

Key Responsibilities- Designing an English curriculum, model outstanding teaching and use data to drive student progress (tailored to EHCP targets and diverse learning profiles).
- Lead strategies to embed reading, writing and vocabulary development across all academic subjects, collaborating with therapeutic teams.
- Design and deliver professional development (CPD) to support teachers and LSA’s in implementing specialised literacy and phonics interventions.
- Coordinate and deliver targeted home-based learning for children missing education (CME) to bridge academic gaps and support their return to school.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Degree in English or related subject.
- Proven experience teaching English within a SEND or alternative provision setting.
- Experience working with children missing education (CME).
- Experience leading a core subject or whole‑school initiative.
- Experience conducting home visits or community outreach.
- Deep understanding of specific learning difficulties (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Dyslexia).
- Knowledge of EHCP processes.
- Familiarity with alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS).
- Ability to differentiate curriculum for complex needs, analyse student data, coach staff and safely manage home visits.
- Exceptionally resilient, empathetic, patient and highly skilled at building trust with vulnerable families.
