Online Student Success & Engagement Specialist

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following essential and desirable criteria.

• Essential criteria
• Experience providing student support, engagement, pastoral or advisory services in a Higher or Further Education setting.
• Experience supporting students in an online or digital learning environment, including through virtual meetings, email and learning platforms.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse student groups.
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage a caseload and prioritise effectively.
• Confident user of digital systems and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Teams, VLEs such as KEATS) with a willingness to learn new systems quickly.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately, recognising when to escalate wellbeing or safeguarding concerns.
• Experience maintaining accurate records or case notes, with strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrable commitment to delivering an excellent and inclusive student experience.
• Desirable criteria
• Experience working with international students or learners from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
• Experience supporting online community‑building, such as managing Teams channels, forums, or virtual peer‑engagement activities.
• Experience analysing engagement or progression data to inform interventions or student support strategies.
• Knowledge of academic skills development and experience supporting students in developing study skills, confidence, or transition readiness.
