Job Summary
The Faculty of Medicine designs and delivers integrated, evidence-informed curricula across Undergraduate Medical Education, Postgraduate Medical Education, Master of Physician Assistant Studies, and Continuing Professional Development in Medical Education, supporting distributed campuses. Guided by the Education Council, the Curriculum Specialist leads curriculum innovation, governance, evaluation, and quality improvement, ensuring alignment, compliance, and inclusive, patient-centered approaches. Reporting to the Director, Assessment & Evaluation, the role is responsible for curriculum design, integration, and continuous improvement, with a responsive working relationship with the Associate Deans ( UGME , PGME , MPAS , CPDME ).

Key Responsibilities

Oversee design, revision, and integration of curriculum across all medical education programs, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and strategic priorities.

Analyze evaluation data, learner feedback, and outcomes to identify gaps and implement evidence-based curriculum enhancements.

Lead initiatives to embed equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-oppression frameworks into curriculum content and delivery.

Manage digital systems, curriculum mapping, and learning objective alignment to maintain consistency, accuracy, and accreditation compliance.

Advise senior leadership and committees, contribute to accreditation processes, and guide curriculum staff to ensure high-quality execution.

Partner with academic leaders, faculty, and external units to coordinate curriculum initiatives, faculty development, and program-wide educational improvements.

Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications

Undergraduate degree, plus five years related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).

Experience in curriculum development and educational design, ideally in medical or health profession education required.

Demonstrated expertise in case-based learning, experiential education, simulation-based education, and distributed medical education models.

Exceptional communication, project management, and relationship-building skills.

Proven ability to influence and lead within a complex, multi-stakeholder academic environment.
