Are you an experienced architectural educator who is passionate about design teaching, student development and supporting a high-quality architectural learning experience?

About the role

The University of Plymouth is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Architecture (0.4 FTE / 14.8 hours per week) to support the delivery of high-quality architectural education across our Architecture programmes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced educator who can contribute across design studios, seminars and taught modules, helping to provide continuity, resilience and high-quality teaching provision across design studios, taught modules and assessment activity throughout the curriculum. Working closely with the core academic team, you will play an important role in teaching, assessment, student development and the day-to-day delivery of a professionally relevant and design-led architectural education.

This appointment represents a strategic investment in teaching capacity and student experience, supporting the continued development of the Architecture provision and future growth in Interior Architecture.

  • Deliver high-quality teaching, studio tutoring and assessment across Architecture programmes.
  • Support design studio learning through tutorials, reviews, workshops and formative feedback.
  • Contribute to module delivery and curriculum enhancement activities across the subject area.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students throughout their studies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a coherent and engaging learning experience.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking an architectural educator who can demonstrate:

  • A degree and/or professional qualification in Architecture or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience of studio teaching, design tutoring and assessment within architectural education, together with a demonstrable commitment to student development and educational excellence.
  • The ability to contribute effectively across a broad range of design studio and taught provision.
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive, student-centred learning and educational excellence.

We are particularly interested in candidates who combine strong architectural knowledge with a passion for teaching and supporting student development. The ideal candidate will be confident contributing across multiple areas of the curriculum and helping to maintain a coherent and high-quality student experience. Experience with in professional practice, design research or interdisciplinary educational settings would be welcomed.
