Are you an exceptional architectural educator who can inspire the next generation of architects to address climate change, adaptive reuse and the future stewardship of the built environment through design?
About the role
The University of Plymouth is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Architecture to join a dynamic and ambitious architecture team.
We are looking for an outstanding educator with expertise in climate-responsive design, adaptive reuse, retrofit, regenerative design or related fields, who can lead students in addressing the environmental and societal challenges shaping contemporary architectural practice through ambitious and design-led responses.
You will contribute across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through design studio teaching, curriculum development, assessment and academic support. Working within a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, you will enable students to integrate environmental, technical, social and cultural considerations into ambitious and critically informed design proposals.
As the School continues to strengthen its Architecture provision and develop new opportunities in Interior Architecture, you will contribute to a forward-looking educational environment committed to innovation, sustainability and design excellence.
- Deliver high-quality design studio teaching, tutorials and assessment across Architecture programmes.
- Guide students in developing creative, technically informed and environmentally responsible design proposals.
- Contribute to curriculum development, module leadership and enhancement activities.
- Collaborate across Architecture, Interior Architecture and related disciplines to enrich the student experience.
- Engage in scholarly, professional or knowledge-exchange activity that strengthens teaching and maintains contemporary relevance.

- Expertise in climate-responsive design, adaptive reuse, retrofit, regenerative design, environmental design, circular construction or related areas of contemporary practice.
- The ability to lead design-led teaching that integrates environmental responsibility with creativity, technical understanding and critical enquiry.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, together with a commitment to inclusive and student-centred education.
