Personal Adviser (Connexions) – Careers Information, Advice & Guidance
Fixed Term for 12 Months
The Connexions Service provides high‑quality careers information, advice and guidance to young people across North Tyneside. We are looking for a motivated and passionate Adviser to work with young people aged 13–19, and up to 25 for those with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
About the RoleAs a Connexions Adviser, you will provide impartial careers advice, guidance and personalised support to a mixed caseload of young people. Your work will include:
- Supporting pupils in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) to progress successfully into Post‑16 education or employment.
- Working in mainstream schools and/or specialist SEND provisions.
- Engaging with young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).
- Helping young people explore their options, make informed choices and progress into sustained learning or employment.
- Building positive relationships that inspire and motivate young people to achieve their goals.
- Recording and reporting accurate data to support service delivery.
This role requires confidence, empathy and excellent communication skills. You will be part of a friendly and supportive team, but you will also spend significant time working independently and managing your own workload.
About YouWe are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young people, in a careers guidance role.
- Holds a Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification.
- Understands the range of pathways available to young people, including education, apprenticeships, training and local labour‑market opportunities.
- Can engage confidently with young people from diverse backgrounds, including those with SEND and Social emotional and mental health issues (SEMH).
- Understands the challenges and barriers that face young people participating in learning.
