Online University Arts & Sciences Instructor - PHIL 110 (26:122

Term of App't:September - December 2026 (96 hours total)

Start date: September 2, 2026 (to allow for prep prior to the start of classes)

Reporting to: Dean, Academics

$50.07 – $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% on all regular earnings in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day. Employees in this division have the opportunity to enroll in the College Pension Plan, with contributions matched by the Employer.

NLC requires a sessional online instructor to teach the section as indicated below – with course delivery taking place online synchronous, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:45 - 10:10am.

PHIL 110:
Introduction to Logic and Critical Thinking - This course covers a practical approach to the evaluation of valid argumentation, logical reasoning, common fallacies and the critical use of language.

Required:

• Masters' Degree in Philosophy;
• Demonstrated expertise in logic and reasoning
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Committed to student motivation and success; and the
• Ability to collaborate as an effective team member.

Preference will be given to those who also have:

• PhD in Philosophy
• The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential.
• Previous instructional experience in a post-secondary environment;
• Experience using learning management systems (LMS) and teaching through multiple delivery modalities, and
• Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.
