Role Description

The Chess Teacher – Online role is a remote, contract position focused on delivering engaging, interactive chess lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting live online classes, explaining chess concepts and strategies, demonstrating moves and tactics, and guiding learners through practice games and exercises. The role involves adapting teaching methods to individual learning styles, providing constructive feedback, tracking student progress, and maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

The Chess Teacher will collaborate with the CreateNLearn team on curriculum improvements, incorporate educational technology tools, and communicate regularly with learners and caregivers to support continued growth.
Qualifications
Ability to design structured lessons and curricula, including strong Lesson Planning and Education skills.
Demonstrated Teaching and Training experience, ideally with children or youth in online or classroom settings.
Excellent Communication skills for explaining concepts clearly, fostering participation, and engaging diverse learners.
Solid knowledge of chess rules, strategies, openings, tactics, and endgames, with experience playing or coaching at a competitive or club level.
Comfort with online teaching platforms, video conferencing tools, and digital classroom management.
Strong classroom management skills, patience, and the ability to motivate and support learners of different skill levels.
Prior experience in K–12 education, tutoring, or extracurricular enrichment programs is beneficial.
Availability to teach classes during after-school hours, evenings, or weekends, depending on student schedules.
Relevant education or certifications in teaching, coaching, or child development are a plus.
