Student Disability Adviser; SBBAAY

About the role

We're looking for a Disability Advisor to join our Disability Service and play a key role in ensuring disabled students can fully engage with and succeed in their university experience.

As part of a dedicated Disability Advice team, you will work directly with students, academic departments, professional services, and external agencies to identify and remove barriers to learning. Through personalised support and expert advice, you'll help create an inclusive and accessible environment where all students can thrive.

About you

In this role you will:

• Support a wide range of disabled students, providing tailored advice, guidance and support throughout their student journey.
• Assess individual support needs and recommend reasonable adjustments that enable students to access their studies and assessments effectively.
• Work collaboratively with academic departments, internal services and external partners to coordinate timely and effective support.
• Contribute to wider inclusion initiatives, transition activities and disability awareness work that promotes a positive and inclusive student experience.

We're looking for someone who combines strong casework and relationship-management skills with a genuine commitment to supporting disabled students.

You will have:

• Experience of providing advice and support to disabled individuals, ideally within a higher education or similar setting.
• The ability to assess individual needs, develop practical support recommendations and manage a varied caseload effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build productive relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads in a busy and responsive environment.
• Sound knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion principles, relevant legislation, confidentiality and data protection requirements.
• Good IT skills, including experience using Office 365, databases and case management systems.
• A collaborative and professional approach, with a commitment to delivering excellent student-focused services.
• Resilience, flexibility and the ability to work effectively with students experiencing complex or changing circumstances.
• A commitment to promoting inclusion, dignity and respect for all members of the university community.
• A degree or equivalent professional experience.
• A willingness to undertake a DBS check.

Further information

This is a full time (36.5 hours) fixed term role with a duration of 24 months.

The role offers hybrid working, combining time on campus, at the University's Virgil Building in Bath city center, and working from home where appropriate. Due to the student-facing nature of the role, a regular on-campus presence is required.
