The role of the Virtual School Service Manager is to work closely with the Virtual School Headteacher to have oversight of our children and young people in care as though they are in one Virtual School cohort. This includes identifying gaps in provision, working with schools, providers and strategic leads across the council to ensure that appropriate provision is in place to meet their learning needs, monitoring attainment, progress and attendance, and leading the team of Leads and Achievement Coordinators to drive forward this work for all individual young people.

You will work closely with partners, including Social Workers and Managers, Headteachers and Designated Teachers to ensure there is an integrated approach to our ways of working with our young people to increase the positive life chances of our young people in care and care leavers.

You will require:

  • Experience in an educational setting.
  • Successful leadership and management experience within a learning setting or local authority.
  • Detailed knowledge of the processes and procedures in place for Children and Young People in Care, for example care planning, review framework, accountability to meet statutory requirements.
  • Understanding the needs of care experienced young people to progress in their learning journey.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the legislation and national guidance relating to learning and the education and care of care experienced young people.
