About the Role

We’re seeking a Coordinator, D-Camps to support our Mission Team and our Diabetes Camp program. The Coordinator will be responsible for providing leadership to the summer camp programs and year-round program operations and ensures that program delivery is in alignment with the guiding principles of the D-Camps National Guidelines and any relevant provincial camping association standards.

This position is responsible for all program areas of camp and directly supports the seasonal leadership team during program operations by developing quality programs, purchasing, contributing to the hiring of all seasonal staff, and facilitating inter-departmental cooperation to ensure a successful D-Camps program experience. This role includes the oversight of our programs such as Camp Discovery, Camp Morton, Camp Lion Maxwell, Camp Angus, and Camp Douwanna.

Contract Duration:13-Months

Location:Our National Office is located at 1000–170 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. For this role we have a flexible work arrangement policy in place allowing the individual to work from home during the non-camp programming season. During the camp season this role is required to be on-site at all scheduled camp program locations they are responsible for.

Compensation: The hiring salary range for this role is $75,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience and alignment with the requirements of the position.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinates, plans and implements D-Camps programs (including but not limited to digital events, summer camp, leadership development programs, family camps, weekend events, Diabetes Canada events, and alumni events) in accordance with program plans, as established and scheduled by the Sr Manager, D-Camps.
  • Coordinates, plans, and implements D-Camps programs and responsible for the representation and promotion of Atlantic D-Camps to the local, provincial, and relevant camping communities.
  • Functions as Program Lead for all assigned year-round programs with responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of program staff at these programs, supervising the hiring, on-boarding and payroll for staff and volunteers in accordance with DC’s policies and procedure.
  • Engages in operational planning and collaborates with others to ensure high standards of service and program delivery
  • Working in partnership with all D-Camps staff and volunteers to ensure alignment with D-Camps national guidelines and provincial camping association standards
  • Exploring opportunities and innovative practices to realign the existing area camping and youth programs, targeting best practices and ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Ensures the culture and community at camp is focused on a positive experience for all campers, staff, and volunteers; cultivates relationships with alumni and camp families responding to guardian and participant survey results and suggesting appropriate changes each season based on feedback.
