About JTL

JTL is a national apprenticeship provider specialising in the electrical and plumbing sectors, supporting thousands of apprentices and working with employers across England and Wales. We are proud to be an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider and a registered charity, reinvesting in our learners, staff and training facilities.

About the role

As an Electrical Training Officer, you will play a key role in supporting apprentices and learners to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to achieve industry standards, build occupational competence and support successful careers within the electrical industry.

Managing a caseload of apprentices and learners across your region, you will work closely with both learners and employers to monitor progress, provide assessment and feedback, and ensure individuals remain on track to successfully complete their programme. Through regular workplace visits, progress reviews, coaching and mentoring, you will help learners overcome barriers, build confidence and fulfil their potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrician who is passionate about developing others and wants to use their industry knowledge to make a lasting difference to the next generation of electrical professionals. Whether you're already working in apprenticeships or looking to move off the tools for the first time, we'll provide the training and support needed to help you succeed.

You will:

  • Manage a caseload of apprentices and learners, supporting their progress, achievement and successful completion of their programme.

  • Conduct regular workplace visits and progress reviews, working with apprentices and employers to review progress and agree actions.

  • Assess apprentice knowledge, skills and behaviours and provide constructive feedback to support development and improvement.

  • Support apprentices, learners and employers to understand gateway, end‑point assessment and AM2 requirements, ensuring individuals are appropriately prepared and ready to progress.

  • Monitor attendance, engagement, off‑the‑job training and Functional Skills progress, ensuring apprentices and learners are making at least expected progress.

  • Identify apprentices and learners at risk of falling behind and implement timely interventions to support successful outcomes.

  • Promote personal development, employability skills and professional behaviours through JTL’s Steps to Success curriculum.

  • Promote safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health and safety throughout apprenticeship and training delivery.

  • Maintain a good working knowledge of regulations and funding policy, providing advice and guidance to employers as required.

  • Represent JTL professionally when working with employers, apprentices and other stakeholders.
