Level Teaching Assistant

Working 33.75 hours per week (term time)

We are seeking a motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), enabling them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

As an HLTA, you will:

• Plan and lead small-group English withdrawal sessions.
• Provide guidance to and oversee Learning Support Assistants.
• Deliver tailored learning interventions to meet students’ individual needs.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support classroom management and behavior strategies.
• Uphold safeguarding policies and promote student well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting delivery of curriculum-aligned interventions and activities.
• Planning and delivering lessons to individuals, groups, or whole classes as required.
• Monitoring and assessing student progress through data and feedback.
• Reporting concerns, incidents, or safeguarding issues in line with policies.
• Providing line management for Learning Support Assistants.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English and Maths) or equivalent.
• HLTA status or relevant Level 2/3 qualifications (e.g., NNEB).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Competence with IT tools and ability to analyse and present data.
• Experience working in a similar role within education or SEND environments.
• Proven organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.

St Lawrence Primary School has large, bright classrooms, all with access to their own outside space. St Lawrence has a modern, spacious school hall, a large school kitchen, a children's kitchen, a specialist learning hub and a newly extended library area with additional learning space for small group work. St Lawrence also has impressive outside facilities with a fantastic school field which includes an orchard, and an allotment area all of which are used during our Forest School sessions.
