Education Welfare Officer

Working within Education & Inclusion (Education Welfare Service) to deliver effective, high quality, school attendance services and make sure the Council meets its statutory duties around school attendance.

To work closely with schools to enable them to manage their attendance and provide opportunities for all pupils to attend and learn. To work in collaboration with a wide range of partners.

Improving school attendance is everyone’s business. The barriers to accessing education are wide and complex, both within and beyond the school gates, and are often specific to individual pupils and families.

Some pupils find it harder than others to attend school and therefore at all stages of improving attendance, schools and partners should work with pupils and parents to remove any barriers to attendance by building strong and trusting relationships and working together to put the right support in place to enable pupils to access the full‑time education to which they are entitled.

Securing good attendance needs effective practices for improvement and involves close interaction with schools’ efforts on curriculum, behaviour, bullying, special educational needs support, pastoral and mental health and wellbeing, and effective use of resources, including pupil premium.

The team quality assures and process all the legal intervention requests; investigates

Children Missing in Educationenquiries;prepares and facilitates half termly Network Meetings and Good Practice sharing session to school staff; completes the Statutory Targeted Support Meetings and Register Inspections; support schools to be Ofsted ready and is pivotal to helping schools keep children safe and ensuring their full entitlement to their education.

We are looking for applicant who isexperienced in working with schools and hasgreat people skillsand data skills too to join our strong and supportive Education Welfare Service based in Winsford. If you are motivated to developbest practice, work on your own initiative, support the teamto provide a high quality service, have strong reflective practise and direction and are enthusiastic about contributing to service development for the team;
