Academic Advisor

Our client is seeking a supportive and knowledgeable Academic Advisor to join their higher education institution in Upington . In this role, you will guide students through their academic journey, helping them select appropriate courses, understand degree requirements, and plan for their future careers. You will provide personalized support, foster academic success, and connect students with campus resources. • Advise students on course selection, degree planning, and academic progress to ensure they meet graduation requirements.
• Provide guidance on career exploration, internship opportunities, and graduate school applications.
• Help students understand university policies, procedures, and academic regulations.
• Refer students to appropriate campus resources such as tutoring services, counseling, and financial aid.
• Maintain accurate student records and track academic progress, participating in outreach initiatives to support student retention.

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Previous experience in academic advising, student counseling, or higher education student services is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of university academic structures, curriculum, and degree requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and adapt to a hybrid work environment in Upington .
