Tutor for Liberty Partnerships Program, Part-time Hourly

Reporting to the Program Director, Liberty Partnerships Program School Based Tutors is responsible for supporting On-Site Advisors with after school tutoring one to two days per week at their assigned school. Instructors will be responsible for working with participants in LPP in specific areas of study, completing assignments, and working on large concepts the student is struggling with grasping. Instructors must have the ability to comprehend and explain educational materials and, assist with student learning, as appropriate.

Classroom management skills are needed along with the ability to interact positively with secondary school participants. They will be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of participants. The successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor participants as they pursue high school completion and/or moving to the next grade level.


* This is a temporary part-time position.

  • Develop engaging differentiated instruction in related field.
  • Assist with creating interactive learning experiences for students tackling difficult topics.
  • Assist the On-Site Advisor in supervising the classroom.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Implement innovative and high-impact teaching practices.
  • Review effective study/test-taking skills for the related field with students.
  • Adheres to the College Code of Conduct.
  • Contributes to, supports, and maintains an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative College environment.
  • Maintains technological competencies utilized by the College.
  • Commits to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.
  • Commits to professional growth.which includes seeking ongoing training in diversity, equity and inclusion to better serve students.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned a bachelor's degree or higher in education from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Secondary teaching certification required.
  • Experience in the Rochester City School District secondary schools.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned a master's degree in education from a regionally accredited higher education institution
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies.
  • Proficiency with technology
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish or other languages proficiently
Additional Information:

Salary: $26/hour

Schedule: Approximately 20hours/week.
