  • Non-Duration Classroom:
    Starting Wage $23.93/hr, dependent upon Education and Bilingual Wage: $25.13/hr dependent upon Education/Bilingual Screening
  • Duration Classroom:
    Starting Wage $26.10/hr, dependent upon Education and Bilingual Wage: $27.41/hr dependent upon Education/Bilingual Screening
PURPOSE:

The Early Childhood Home Visitor 0-5 provides home-based services to assigned children, in partnership with their parents and pre-natal women, which includes weekly home visits, center-based playgroups, health follow-up, child growth and development, family support and resource and referral. This position is responsible for meeting the National Head Start Performance Standards and Office of Child Care Regulations and following the agency policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL

JOB DUTIES:

I. HOME-BASED SERVICE PROVISION
  • A. Demonstrate skills and effective strategies in strengthening the parent/child relationship.
  • B. Plan and provide weekly home visits to families according to policy and procedures.
  • C. Plan and implement child development experiences in the home in partnership with parents that reflect each child’s individual development, the curricula of the program and which are in alignment with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework Birth to Five.
  • D. Plan and facilitate family playgroups with input from families.
  • E. Complete all Home-Based documentation in a thorough and timely manner.
  • F. Promote maternal mental health and provide support to the expectant family.
  • G. Provide prenatal and postpartum parent education to prenatal women as required.
  • H. Assist pregnant women in accessing ongoing prenatal care, dental exams, community resources and substance abuse and/or mental health treatment, as needed.
  • I. Schedule newborn health home visits with the Heath Screener Coordinator within two weeks of birth.
  • J. Participate in cleaning and organizing of classrooms, outdoor environments and materials used on home visits.
II. CHILD EDUCATION SERVICES
  • A. Follow all education policies and procedures and implement curriculum with fidelity.
  • B. Provide developmental screenings and follow-up screening and assist families with referral process to early intervention as needed.
  • C. Document ongoing observations, conduct child assessments with fidelity and establish child goals in collaboration with families.
  • D. Plan and implement classroom environments that are rich in developmentally appropriate individualized curriculum and reflect responsive unhurried classroom routines for playgroup.
  • E. Debrief playgroups with parents to inform planning, environment changes and goals to focus on for next group.
  • F. Plan and implement individualized child development experiences in the home in partnership with parents.
  • G. Engage in the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) process for children with disabilities.
  • H. Report suspected cases of child abuse or neglect in accordance with state law and agency policy.
  • I. Maintain confidentiality of records and family information.
III. PARENT, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT (PFCE) SERVICES
  • A. Follow all PFCE policies and procedures.
  • B. Facilitate nurturing parent/child interactions and promote the engagement of families in their child’s development and learning.
  • C. Establish family goals in partnership with parents, follow-up on progress and refer families to needed community resources;
  • D. Collaborate with parents to ensure all children are up-to-date on immunizations, well child exams, dental exams, and follow-up treatment needs;
