Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and faith-filled learning environment when the regular classroom teacher is absent. The Substitute Teacher follows lesson plans, supervises students, manages classroom activities, and supports the academic, social, and spiritual mission of the Catholic school.

Job Responsibilities

Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher.

Provide instruction and meaningful learning activities that support students' academic growth.

Maintain a positive, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.

Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions, recess, lunch, and other assigned activities.

Uphold classroom rules, school policies, and expectations for student behavior.

Support and model the values and teachings of the Catholic faith.

Participate in prayer, Mass, religious activities, and other faith-based activities as appropriate.

Treat every student with dignity, patience, compassion, and respect.

Communicate important classroom or student concerns to the appropriate school personnel.

Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.

Complete any assigned classroom duties and leave the classroom organized for the returning teacher.

Follow all school safety, emergency, child protection, and supervision procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designated administrator.

Job Requirements

Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to changing classroom needs.

Dependable, responsible, patient, and professional.

Commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for students.

Respect for and willingness to support the mission, values, and Catholic identity of the school.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
