Position: Learning and Development Specialist Rigging Full-Time Contract

UK Rigging are looking for a Learning and Development Specialist

Location: Bolton, Greater Manchester

Hybrid Arrangement: In-person for training delivery, with flexible remote work options for course development and project tasks

Looking for Stability and Purpose in the Live Events Industry?

If you have a solid foundational knowledge of rigging and work at height, care about raising safety standards across the sector, and want to shape the next generation of industry talent-this is your opportunity to step into a secure, impactful, full-time role.

While freelance life has its benefits, navigating seasonal lulls and unpredictable schedules can be tough. We are offering the ideal balance: a guaranteed, steady income with a dependable company, schedule flexibility, and the option to pick up live-event onsite shifts alongside your role.

You don't need to be an active, full-time 'jobbing' rigger or a traditional teacher to excel here. This isn't about lecturing in a classroom; it's about practical, hands-on knowledge sharing and coaching aspiring professionals.

What You'll Be Doing

This hybrid role blends in-person practical delivery with flexible, remote technical development and internal coaching:

  • In-Person Course Delivery: Lead our core training programmes at our Bolton training centre—including the Three-Day Rigging, 1-Day Work at Height, and Environmental Awareness (EA) courses.
  • Coaching & Talent Development: Supervise and mentor Rigging Assistants through hands-on workshop days, bridging the gap between classroom learning and onsite experience.
  • Course & Syllabus Innovation: Design and roll out new Rigging Assistant workshop modules, deliver bespoke training solutions to venues and clients, and work with our training partners to update course materials.
  • Regulatory Expertise & Quality Control: Keep up to date with changes in legislation and safety regulations (LOLER, PUWER, PPE). Deliver regulatory updates to internal staff and external trainers and participate in standardized course audits.
  • Internal L&D & Technical Lead: Provide technical input on H&S, risk assessments, and internal staff development. Serve as an impartial, technically minded lead for debriefs following major projects or incidents, and proofread marketing content for technical accuracy.
  • Train the Trainer: Onboard, train, and coach new freelance trainers on effective coaching methods and standardized syllabus delivery.
What We're Looking For
  • Solid Technical Foundations: Strong core knowledge of rigging principles, work at height, and key regulations (LOLER, PUWER, PPE).
  • Great Communicator & Coach: Patient, clear, and capable of engaging constructively with a wide range of personalities, from newcomers to seasoned freelancers.
  • Proactive & Eager to Learn: Able to keep up to date with evolving laws, EDI best practices, and industry standards.
  • Professional Standards: Dependable, organised, and committed to high standards of safety, personal presentation, and standardization.
  • Hands-on

    Experience:

An NRC Level 3 qualification or equivalent live-event experience is ideal, but a passion for safety and mentorship is what matters most.
Why Join Us?
  • Income Security: Full-time, year-round stability with competitive pay.
  • Flexible Work Pattern: In-person training in Bolton combined with remote working options.
  • Best of Both Worlds: Keep your hands in the industry with optional onsite shifts to boost your earnings.
  • Continuous Growth: Expand your expertise in safety, regulations, and industry standards within a supportive, growing organisation.
Schedule

Employment Type: Full-time or Part-Time, Permanent, 35 hours per week.

Part-Time Option: Part-time would also be considered if core hours of 09:00-17:00 Tues - Thurs could be met.
