Orientation and Mobility Specialist in La Joya, TX

An exciting remote contract position is available for a School-Based Bilingual (Spanish) Orientation and Mobility Specialist, providing valuable support to K-12 students throughout Texas.

In this role, your specialized knowledge will ensure students with visual impairments develop crucial independence and navigation skills in educational settings. Collaborate virtually with multidisciplinary teams and families to foster accessible, supportive learning environments from the comfort of your own space.

• Valid Texas Orientation and Mobility Specialist License is required
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills strongly preferred to better serve diverse student populations
• Experience working with K-12 students in school-based settings
• Strong understanding of IEP processes and documentation
• Effective communication and collaboration in virtual/remote team environments
• Passion for empowering students with visual impairments to reach their full potential

• Provide individualized orientation and mobility instruction to students in grades K-12 via remote platforms
• Develop and implement personalized learning goals within IEP frameworks
• Conduct student assessments and progress monitoring to adapt instructional strategies
• Consult with school staff, families, and related service providers to coordinate comprehensive care
• Deliver in-service training or resources to educators and support staff as needed
• Maintain accurate, timely student records and program documentation
