DescriptionSome people love the road. A new city, a new school, and a new room full of students who walk in skeptical and walk out believing they can raise their score. If that sounds like a great week, this job was built for you.
Mastery Prep is hiring Instructors to lead our test prep boot camps for high school students at partner schools. In a typical week you'll travel 3 to 5 days, meet a new group of students at each stop, and bring our proven curriculum to life with energy, humor, and strategies students can use on test day.
Many of the students you'll meet have struggled with standardized tests and have started to believe they just aren't good test takers. Your job is to change their minds, and you'll leave each school knowing you did.
Key Responsibilities- Travel to partner schools and districts 3 to 5 days per week, including overnight stays.
- Lead boot camps for groups that range from a single classroom to a packed auditorium.
- Deliver Mastery Prep's curriculum with confidence, adjusting your pace, examples, and energy to the students in the room.
- Build rapport fast with students, many of whom arrive unsure they belong there.
- Work with principals, counselors, and teachers on site so every event runs smoothly.
- Represent Mastery Prep as the face of the company at every school you visit.
- Manage the logistics of life on the road: travel plans, materials, and arriving early and ready every time.
- Put coaching from our instructional team into practice and keep sharpening your delivery.
- Get energized, not drained, by airports, hotels, and new places.
- Can hold the attention of a room full of young people and genuinely enjoy it.
- Think on your feet when the projector fails or the schedule changes at 7:45 a.m.
- Are organized and self-directed enough to run your own week from the road.
- Believe every student is capable of more than a test score suggests.
- Bachelor's degree (teaching certification not required)
- Experience working with middle or high school students, such as teaching, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, camp, or youth programs
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to motivate a room
- Ability to travel 3 to 5 days per week, including overnight stays
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check, including a motor vehicle record (MVR) review
- Successful completion of Mastery Prep's Boot Camp Instructor training (paid)
- Openness to feedback and a drive to keep improving
- Ability to connect with students, educators, and administrators from all backgrounds
- Classroom teaching, test prep, or public speaking experience
- Familiarity with the ACT, SAT, or state assessments
- Experience in a role with frequent travel
- Per event or per day pay rates
- Travel expenses covered, including a per diem for meals
- Training in Mastery Prep's curriculum and presentation approach before your first event
- Full-time staff to support your instructional and logistical needs
- A front row seat to the moment students realize they can do this
