The External Examiner – NMP v300 role is a contract, remote position overseeing academic standards and quality assurance for the Non-Medical Prescribing (v300) programme. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing assessment materials, marking criteria, and sample scripts to ensure fairness, consistency, and alignment with professional standards. The examiner will provide detailed feedback on assessments, participate in examination boards (typically via online meetings), and contribute to annual reports summarizing programme quality and student outcomes.

The role also involves monitoring the comparability of standards with similar programmes nationally and advising on enhancements to teaching, assessment, and curriculum design. The postholder will work collaboratively with programme teams while maintaining independence and objectivity in their evaluations.

• Substantial experience in Non-Medical Prescribing (v300) or closely related advanced clinical practice, with current professional registration (e.g., NMC, HCPC, or equivalent).
• Prior involvement in higher education teaching, assessment, or quality assurance, preferably at postgraduate or advanced practice level.
• Strong analytical, critical evaluation, and academic judgement skills, with the ability to review complex assessment materials and student work.
• Excellent written communication skills for producing clear, evidence-based reports and constructive feedback.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, contract capacity, manage workload around key assessment and board dates, and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Familiarity with UK regulatory and professional standards for prescribing and advanced practice; experience as an external examiner is highly desirable.
• Master’s degree or higher in a relevant healthcare or clinical discipline; a teaching qualification or fellowship of a higher education academy is an advantage.
