The Application Engineer role centers on being a technical specialist for Autodesk design software relevant to the Architecture, Engineering, Geospatial, and Construction (AEC) industries, with an emphasis on Civil Engineering and Surveying.
Responsibilities- Provide pre- and post-sale technical support to customers, acting as the primary technical resource during the sales process and training assistance after software acquisition.
- Work closely with Sales Representatives to develop and execute technical workflows relevant to customers, including customer meetings and site visits.
- Travel on-site for support and training, approximately 20% overnight travel.
- Deliver sample presentations during the interview process as part of evaluating customer needs and solutions.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on Autodesk AEC experience, proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD, with a working skill level of 7+ out of 10 for these products.
- Either passed the Autodesk Certified Professional for Civil3D exam or commit to achieving the skills to do so within 6 weeks of hire.
- Ability to achieve Autodesk Certified Instructor status within three months of hire.
- Some experience with drones is a plus, but not required.
- Understanding of geospatial workflows and drone technology in a professional context.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; a sample presentation will be required during the interview process.
- Ability to travel frequently for client meetings and site visits, approximately 20% overnight travel.
- Clients are typically surveyors, civil engineering firms, infrastructure contractors, and land development professionals.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD; ability to obtain and maintain Autodesk Certified Instructor status (required, can occur after hire).
- Software Training & Technical Support: provide essential training and technical support for key software solutions, with emphasis on Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Technical Support & Client Engagement: collaborate with sales and technical teams to analyze client requirements, identify challenges, and recommend tailored products or solutions.
- Solution Presentations and Technical Demonstrations: develop and deliver technical demonstrations to prospective clients, highlighting the value of the solutions (including enterprise drones and SLAM scanners for geospatial applications).
- Strong understanding of drone technology and related workflows.
