The Bridge Engineer will play a key role in performing and overseeing technical designs, developing projects from conceptual to final design, overseeing the preparation of contract plans and documents, and mentoring junior staff. While the primary focus is bridge engineering, there will also be building assignments related to public works structures such as wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and salt sheds.

• Assist in and lead the preparation of bridge and building design documents, including calculations, AutoCAD plans, specifications, and quantities.
• Prepare formal reports.
• Participate as a member of field crews for structural inspections.
• Supervise, coordinate, and mentor junior staff.
• Collaborate across disciplines and office locations.

Preferred location is BETA’s Lincoln office, with flexibility for other locations. BETA offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing remote work up to 2 days per week.

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• Massachusetts or Rhode Island PE license.
• 7-12 years of bridge engineering experience.
• Bridge design and MassDOT design experience.
• Strong background in structural analysis and theory.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for learning and responsibility.
• Ability to work collaboratively.
• Ability to lift/move objects up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to perform field work in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

• Finite element analysis skills.
• Building experience.
• RIDOT experience.
