Role Overview

Senior level operational professional, typically site based. Responsibilities include support of all phases of project activities on medium (USD
100MM
+) projects, covering engineering, procurement, and construction. The Project Engineer (Ops) is considered a Junior Level Project Manager but does not have profit and loss (P&L) accountability. This Professional (Degreed) role may have supervisory responsibility and typically reports to Project or Operations Management.

Responsibilities
  • The Project Engineer (Ops) is a Project Management role distinct from a Project Engineer (Eng).
  • The Sr. Project Engineer provides technical support to coordinate engineering, procurement and construction deliverables during all project phases so that designs meet operational requirements and engineering standards.
  • Coordinate project plans, contractual arrangements, schedules, activities, and milestones.
  • May be responsible for client or customer reporting requirements and client operational interactions.
  • Deliver engineering, construction, purchasing, scheduling, and startup aspects of projects.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Programs, such as Lessons Learned, to support quality and project goals.
  • Ensure items are installed per the latest specifications and drawings, meeting quality, cost and time constraints.
  • Monitor progress, schedule performance, and identify problems related to budget, schedules and engineering standards, working directly with Project Controls.
  • Investigate and follow up on technical queries with the technical services groups.
  • Provide technical and quality assistance to Construction Supervisors and Field crews.
  • Identify and interpret material specifications and provide technical support to the supply chain to meet project schedules.
  • Ensure work complies with scope and operational requirements, obtaining appropriate approvals and documenting calculations, specifications, variations, etc.
Qualifications
  • Typically 8‑10+ years since first degree and 8+ years relevant experience in Project Engineering, Construction Management or Project Controls.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience preferred.
  • Professional Degree (Engineering or other Technical BS required).
