Power Generation Risk Engineering Consultant
Zurich North America is seeking a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant or Risk Engineering Specialist with extensive experience in power plant operations to join our Global Energy – Power Generation team. This work‑from‑home role (primarily Western U.S. but open to other U.S. locations) may involve up to 50% travel to service accounts across the United States.
Role OverviewThis position supports the workload associated with Power Generation Underwriting. You will complete field and desktop assessments of power generation plants and equipment, develop risk improvement actions, and provide consultative services to our clients.
Responsibilities- Advanced risk assessment of plant machinery and fire protection equipment, including business interruption risks.
- Deliver consultative services: identify exposures with significant loss potential, investigate causes/effects of major losses, and develop management programs.
- Provide power generation training, service design coordination, mentoring, marketing, and loss investigations.
- Manage account risk portfolio and deliver account‑level engineering to meet underwriting requirements.
- Market Zurich products alongside underwriting professionals and agents.
- Develop and implement customer service strategies that reduce loss and improve operations.
- Senior Risk Engineering Consultant:
- Bachelor's degree and 6+ years experience in Power Generation Risk Engineering.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 8+ years experience in Power Generation Risk Engineering.
- Zurich Certified Apprentice, Associate degree and 6+ years experience in Power Generation Risk Engineering.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Risk Engineering Specialist:
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years experience in Risk Engineering.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 10+ years experience in Risk Engineering.
- Zurich Certified Apprentice, Associate degree and 8+ years experience in Risk Engineering.
- Knowledge of exposures, controls, and best practice risk improvement.
- 10+ years experience in Risk Engineering or power generation plant operations.
- Military experience with propulsion plants and power generation equipment.
- Related energy industry experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills and advanced knowledge of exposures controls and industry segment.
- Specialty certification in Risk Engineering Power Generation Machinery Breakdown assessments.
The combined salary range for this position is $98,300.00 – $. For the Senior Risk Engineering Consultant the range is $98,300.00 – $ with a 15% short‑term incentive bonus. For the Risk Engineering Specialist the range is $ – $ with a 20% short‑term incentive bonus.
