Working with companies from coast-to-coast, our Environmental Regulatory Consultants provide significant value to clients through ongoing programs ranging from compliance assessments and policy development to program development and implementation. Due to increased workload, we are hiring a Contract Environmental Consultant to work on an as‑needed basis, providing consulting services to clients in‑house, off‑site, or via internet technology. Responsibilities include conducting audits & assessments, developing and implementing customized solutions, and providing training, advisory, and technical support.
Candidates must have their own business and insurance, and must already have other clients, as J. J. Keller cannot represent 50% or more of their annual revenue.
- Provide consulting and educational services to clients in‑house, off‑site, or via internet technology.
- Develop, document, and maintain curriculum and materials for general and client‑specific applications.
- Serve as a technically proficient specialist in emission calculations, data analysis, control technologies, compliance auditing, permitting, and strategic regulatory analysis.
- Conduct environmental audits and assessments, develop customized reports and manuals, and deliver regulatory‑related training.
- Maintain a high level of regulatory expertise, monitor and assess regulatory changes, and communicate regulatory information to staff and clients.
- Proactively develop additional business within the client base by identifying and analyzing customer needs, developing concepts and proposals, scheduling activities, and closing contracts.
- Complete routine environmental reports for clients, including Tier II, Toxic Release Inventory, Semiannual Deviation Reports, Annual Compliance Certifications, Emission Inventories, and Greenhouse Gas Reports.
- Identify and develop additional service offerings.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental, or a Science‑related field.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an additional 3 years of environmental regulatory experience will be considered.
- 5+ years of experience as an environmental practitioner in a consulting environment.
- Proficiency in PC and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation.
- Ability to work effectively with associates and client representatives at all levels.
- Capacity to work independently or within a team environment.
- Understanding of sales, marketing, and business finance concepts/applications.
- Knowledge of EHS, including environmental compliance at both national and state levels; workplace safety experience is a plus.
- Self‑starter with strong cognitive problem‑solving abilities.
- Motivated, goal‑oriented individual with excellent organization, planning, implementation, time‑management, and quality‑control skills.
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment and involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods. Frequent travel to client sites and/or industry and training events is required (40–50%).
