Recruitment Consultant – Zurich North America
Zurich is looking for a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant or Risk Engineering Specialist with extensive experience in power plant operations to join the Global Energy – Power Generation team. This is a work-from-home role ideally within the Western U.S., with travel up to 50% to service accounts across the U.S. The position supports Power Generation Risk Engineering work‑load associated with underwriting, assisting the team with increased field assignments.
Candidates will perform field and desktop assessments of power generation plants and equipment, develop risk‑improvement actions and recommendations for clients.
Responsibilities include:
- Advanced risk assessment of plant machinery and fire protection equipment, and associated business interruption within the power generation industry.
- Providing consultative services to customers, identifying exposures with significant loss potential, investigating causes and effects of major losses, and developing management programs.
- Providing power‑generation training for Risk Engineering staff, underwriting staff, customers, service design, coordination, mentoring, marketing, and loss investigations.
- Managing account risk portfolio and providing account‑level engineering to meet underwriting requirements.
- Marketing Zurich products with underwriting professionals and agents across company business segments.
- Developing and implementing customer service strategies that reduce loss and improve customer operations.
Final candidates will be subject to a motor‑vehicle record background check. The role may include a company car depending on location and mileage requirements.
Qualifications:
- Senior Risk Engineering Consultant:
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in Power Generation Risk Engineering, or
- High‑school diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of experience in Power Generation Risk Engineering, or
- Zurich Certified Apprentice with an associate degree and 6+ years of experience in Power Generation Risk Engineering, and
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Risk Engineering Specialist:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in Risk Engineering, or
- High‑school diploma or equivalent and 10+ years of experience in Risk Engineering, or
- Zurich Certified Apprentice with an associate degree and 8+ years of experience in Risk Engineering, and
- Knowledge of exposures, controls and best‑practice risk improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Risk Engineering or power‑generation plant operations and maintenance.
- Military experience in propulsion plants and power‑generation equipment.
- Related energy industry experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Advanced knowledge of exposure controls and industry segment.
- Certification in specialty area;
Risk Engineering Power Generation Machinery Breakdown assessments.
Compensation:
This role’s nationwide market range is $98,300 – $185,100. The Senior Risk Engineering Consultant range is $98,300 – $161,100 with a 15% short‑term incentive bonus, and the Risk Engineering Specialist range is $113,100 – $185,100 with a 20% short‑term incentive bonus.
