FIRE SPRINKLER DESIGNER — JOIN OUR ENGINEERING TEAM!
What You’ll Do
Produce conceptual fire sprinkler and standpipe designs in Revit (2D and 3D). The work will focus on setting hazard classifications, identifying sprinkler zones, locating sprinkler risers, and coordinating location of mains.
Produce conceptual designs for water supplies including fire pumps and water storage tanks. You will consult with clients on sizing underground fire water mains.
You will be trained to also produce special suppression, fire alarm and life safety conceptual plans. No prior experience is necessary for these three items.
Prepare hydraulic calculations. You will evaluate flow tests and system demands to determine if the water supply is adequate. You will size fire pumps and water storage tanks when the water supply is not adequate.
Interpret and apply NFPA standards (NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, and 22). Additionally, you will learn to navigate NFPA 72 (fire alarm), NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code), UFC Standards, FMData Sheets, and the International Building Code (IBC).
Review contractor submittal packages and approve or provide feedback and direction to contractors.
Conduct site inspections to ensure systems were constructed in accordance with designs.
Work directly with our engineering team to solve design challenges and provide creative solutions.
What You Bring
- 2+ years of experience as a Fire Sprinkler Designer
- Proficiency in Revit (required)
- Knowledge of NFPA codes and general fire protection design standards
- Ability to perform hydraulic calculations
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
- Self‑motivated, organized, and capable of managing deadlines
- NICET certification is a plus. Experience with Hydracad Calculations is a plus.
