Position: Forensic Engineer (Slip, Trip, & Fall) – Remote Position in Florida

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Qforensics is seeking an experienced forensic engineer with 7+ years of experience with a background in slip, trip, and fall investigations
, as well as other specialties such as accident reconstruction, product liability, workplace safety, structural engineering, or experience with OSHA, ANSI, ASTM, ADA, NFSI, and Building Codes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
:

Forensic Investigations

  • Apply engineering principles and practices in broad areas including slip, trip, and fall cases.
  • Experience as an expert witness providing clear, concise, unbiased deposition and trial testimony related to casework.
  • Conduct site inspections, documentation, and collection/preservation of evidence using photographs, measurements, and equipment such as a tribometer, drone or laser scanner. Perform product testing, ensuring related safety requirements have been addressed.
  • Make decisions and independently plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of complex engineering activities.
  • Manage team fieldwork equipment use and maintenance. Make recommendations for new equipment.

Client Engagement & Management:

  • Collaborate with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and other professionals to discuss and determine case/file objectives and provide insight and support for case strategy.
  • Customer service oriented and ability to form strong lasting relationships with clients.
  • When requested, communicate the projected costs of a case to clients to help manage expectations. Complete project files within established budgets, reviewing and approving matters for invoicing for all case files assigned. If unable to be resolved through accounting team, assist in resolution of client complaints and billing questions.
  • Prepare detailed accident reconstruction analysis and forensic report of findings for submission and discussion with the client.
  • Responsible for the accomplishment of billable goal requirements.

Marketing & Training

  • Prepare and present marketing presentations to affiliate groups and firms such as Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and company overview presentations. Attend trade shows and other marketing events, as needed.
  • Help train and mentor other engineers, fostering professional growth within the team.
  • Direct activities of team members ensuring they embrace corporate policies, procedures, and other requirements.
  • Participate in continuing education to develop and enhance technical knowledge, maintain certifications, and keep abreast of new technologies and developments.
  • Continue to work with other engineers and clients, and improve and hone skill sets in order to grow and advance to more senior leadership roles.
REQUIREMENTS
:
  • Civil, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • 7+ years of experience in forensic engineering, including slip, trip, and fall cases
  • Good communication skills and ability to write clear and concise expert reports
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and accident reconstruction software
  • A team player with a high integrity, hard-working, self-motivated, and adaptable mindset
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Ability to travel approximately 35% – 50%
  • The following certifications are a plus:
    • Active P.E. license in Florida strongly preferred or ability to obtain one
    • Certified Forensic Slip Expert (CFSE)
    • Certified XL Tribometrist (CXLT)
