3 Key Consulting is recruiting an Associate Engineer, Packaging for a consulting engagement with a leading global biotechnology company.

We are looking for a packaging engineer with experience in Adobe Illustrator for creating templates for packaging components.

This position reports to the Packaging Engineering group under the Combination Product Operations (CPO) in Thousand Oaks, CA. The role involves applying engineering principles to design, qualify, and implement primary and secondary packaging components and systems, including documentation, equipment, and processes. Knowledge of packaging systems and material science is essential. The candidate should have strong organizational, project management, technical problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work in teams and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator to create technical templates based on packaging specifications.
• Experience or familiarity with Packaging Engineering functions.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to multitask.

• Support testing and evaluation of packaging materials for selection.
• Familiarity with material testing standards, requirements, and equipment.
• Write test protocols, perform evaluations, and support reporting for material and packaging component justification.
• Create engineering drawings and develop artwork templates.
• Use AutoCAD, Illustrator, or similar software for engineering drawings.
• Support line trials and packaging validation activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in pre-commercial and commercial activities.

• Ability to work independently and in teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree or Associate degree with 4 years of experience.

• MS or BS in Packaging, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or Life Sciences.
• 0-3 years of general packaging/engineering experience.

To supplement additional workload on the team.

• Lack of familiarity with the client or understanding of their products.
• Unclear on what Packaging Engineers do.
• Lack of motivation.
• No experience with Adobe Illustrator.
