We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Test Automation Engineer to join our Electrical Test Engineering Team in Poway, CA. This position provides a unique opportunity for you to develop test automation for on-aircraft testing – being heavily involved with planning, system design, integration, execution, and data display and analysis on GA-ASI’s advanced aircraft platforms. In addition, you’ll have opportunities for projects ranging from hardware/software design of various avionics assemblies.
Automated developers are responsible for projects from the initial design planning through productization and sustainment. This position will require approximately 20% of the time to support test operations at various locations.
- Collaborate with various engineering teams to plan, coordinate, and implement automated or semi-automated test systems.
- Develop, maintain, and deploy software using a variety of software languages, primarily LabVIEW.
- Design schematics for automated test platforms and be familiar with schematics and CAD tools.
- Communicate software and hardware design concepts.
- Follow department standards for software and hardware development, including peer reviews and proper source control etiquette.
- Develop appropriate documentation related to designated tasks, ranging from design, test plans, root cause analysis.
- May be required to make brief technical presentations.
- Applies technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned engineering problems. Performs functional testing and troubleshooting of equipment and systems in assigned areas by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Perform duties as assigned on site as required with opportunities for remote work.
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD in engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, two or more years of experience with a master’s degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Experience in test automation engineering, including test planning, execution, and data analysis, is required.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, including requirements verification and validation.
- Experience with interpreting schematics and utilizing typical lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, DMM, power supplies, etc.
- Working knowledge of software principles.
- Working knowledge of circuits.
- Proficiency in LabVIEW, Python or other programming languages.
- Working experience with bus communication protocols and standards such as Serial (RS), 1553, ARINC, CAN Bus and Ethernet.
- Must have a general understanding of computer or electrical engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
- Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be willing and able to travel at least 20% of the time and work extended hours, based on program needs.
- Previous experience in aerospace, defense, or related industry is highly desirable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance is required.
Full-Time Salary. Salary range: $81,080 - $141,650.
