Job Description
Job Title: REMOTE Electric Engineering Estimator
Type: Direct Hire
Work Location: Remote
Job Overview
As an Estimator, you will create utility project estimates, act as an extension of our client’s team and provide best‑in‑class service. You will consult on select projects where your expertise and guidance are requested, and provide assistance to the Project Management Team as needed.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Create and review thorough scope/design documentation for potential projects including scope documents, KMZ files (Google Earth), Transmission Asset Mapping Interface files, and File Net (engineering drawing database).
- Create and review substation and transmission line estimates at a project level.
- Review supplemental support estimates (Support estimates include Access Roads, Forestry, SCADA/IT Network, Testing and Commissioning, Real Estate, Project Management, Environmental and Revenue Metering).
- Coordinate with members of the scoping and estimating team, accounting, engineering, sponsors, regional contacts, and personnel from the supplemental support estimate staff.
- Interpret and review actuals in comparison to estimates.
- Assist in the feedback loop from project execution to ensure accuracy is improving.
- Attend regional meetings with sponsors, protection, maintenance, and other stakeholders to review the status of all open estimates.
- Review/approve/reject estimate requests in OPPM.
- Build project schedule timelines for substation, transmission line and support estimates with correct logic.
Required Skills & Experience
- Solid understanding of engineering design/drawing packages.
- Solid understanding of substation construction tasks involved with Project Execution.
- Solid financial acumen.
- High school or GED.
- BS degree in engineering or a similar technical degree is advantageous.
- 3‑15 years of estimating experience within the electric utility industry, specifically related to Substation and Transmission estimating or engineering.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is highly preferred.
- Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills.

- Sage Estimating software (highly advantageous)

- SAP
- Experience with substation design, construction, and/or testing (aligned with estimating experience)
- Experience with Transmission line design, construction, and/or testing.
- Ability to mine and analyze data.

A reasonable estimate of the Base Salary for this role is $80,000 - $155,000 per year. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
