Overview

Structural Bridge Engineer at EMCS, Inc.

EMCS, Inc. provides civil engineering services including transportation, structural, traffic, construction, site development, environmental studies, and surveying. The company serves public and private clients on small and large-scale projects. Founded in 1983 with offices in Milwaukee, Wausau, and Madison, Wisconsin;
Indianapolis, Indiana; and Bergland, Michigan. This position can be based out of any Wisconsin office with hybrid work arrangements and flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities
  • Complete design calculations and plan preparation for new bridges, bridge rehabilitation, and retaining wall projects in alignment with applicable design standards and specifications.
  • Perform in-person site visits and inspections of existing bridges and culverts and prepare and submit required reports.
  • Complete concept development and perform bridge sizing of proposed structures.
  • Complete quantity computations, cost estimates, and prepare special provisions for structures projects.
  • Complete bridge load ratings.
Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • 4-8 years of bridge design experience including structural design of local, highway, and interchange bridges and ancillary structures
  • Wisconsin PE license, or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Prior project experience with WisDOT and Wisconsin counties
  • Strong knowledge of WisDOT Facilities Development Manual and BOS Bridge Manual including standards, specifications, and procedures
  • Proficient in AASHTO LRFD design of bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and other ancillary transportation structures
  • Knowledge of Micro Station/AutoCAD and specialized bridge design software (HEC-RAS, AASHTOWare BrR, CANDE, MathCAD, Midas)
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
