At HDR, our employee‑owners are fully engaged in creating a welcoming environment where each of us is valued and respected, a place where everyone is empowered to bring their authentic selves and novel ideas to work every day. As we foster a culture of inclusion throughout our company and within our communities, we constantly ask ourselves:
What is our impact on the world?

We believe water is more than a resource; it is a shared responsibility. As part of our Water Business Group, you’ll help shape how communities manage water for generations to come. From delivering safe drinking water and treating wastewater responsibly to developing sustainable water supplies and protecting lives and property through flood control, your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.

We bring together experts across disciplines to solve complex challenges with bold thinking and technical excellence. Whether you’re modernizing aging systems or pioneering innovative approaches, your contributions will make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. This isn’t just a job; it’s a chance to lead change, drive progress, and leave a lasting legacy.

In the role of Senior Environmental Project Manager, we’ll count on you to:
  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidisciplinary teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close‑out) for the following environmental services in Washington State:

    • NEPA/SEPA documentation.

  • Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through the entire project life cycle and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule.
  • Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work effort with the team to ensure that work is completed within the parameters of the agreed‑to budget and schedule.
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.
  • Collaborate diligently with Water Business Group leadership and partners, WA ES&P BCL, and the overall cross‑sector team to elevate the practice and project delivery.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures.
  • Supervise large project staffs and act as a mentor for less‑experienced Project Managers.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Will require in‑person participation in the home office on a weekly basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • AICP or NAEP CEP certification.
  • Proven experience managing environmental review and permitting services for Water Resources, Wastewater or other Water Business Group‑related projects in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Ability to grow into a supervisory role.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.
