We are seeking a Lead/Principal Quantum Compiler Engineer for our Broomfield, CO location. All employees should work at their assigned location; however, this role may offer the opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days per week, with approvals.
This role sits on our compiler team, bridging quantum applications with the computing power of quantum machines. You will join an interdisciplinary team of physicists and software developers to transform platform-agnostic quantum algorithms into concrete, executable instructions tailored for our state-of-the-art trapped-ion quantum computers.
Base pay range$/yr - $/yr
What you will do- Drive strategic vision and leadership in architecture and implementation of compilers targeting advanced quantum computer capabilities
- Collaborate with industry partners to develop standards that support future machine capabilities and partnerships
- Mentor and develop technical leadership within the compiler team to build long-term organizational capability and architectural vision
- Oversee advanced compiler design projects (front-end: quantum languages; back-end: machine-specific targeting; optimization passes for quantum and classical operations)
- Collaborate across disciplines with physicists and other engineering teams to solve complex problems
- Champion code quality and engineering excellence, contributing high-quality code in an R&D and rapid prototyping environment
- Masters/PhD degree required
- Minimum 5+ years of industry or post-graduate experience in engineering, lab, or R&D
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience developing compiler infrastructure and technologies
- Minimum 2+ years of experience developing compilers targeting quantum computers
- Due to national security requirements, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen
- Due to contractual requirements, must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or refugee/asylum status)
- Masters/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant field
- 10+ years of programming experience with Python, Rust, C++, or similar
- Experience with LLVM toolchain
- Track record of algorithm development for complex optimization problems and ability to communicate solutions
- Experience as a technical lead in an R&D team focused on compiler technologies
- Rust development experience, including LLVM or optimization algorithms
- Experience with various algorithms (tree, graph, SAT, ML) and high-level IR such as MLIR
- Experience with developing application-specific and heuristic algorithms
- Proficiency with software testing and deployment tools

Incentive Eligible – Range posted is inclusive of bonus target where applicable. Estimated Total Wage: $170,000 - $230,000.
