OPAL-RT Corporation is looking for an Electrical Modeling and Simulation Analyst.

The US Energy team, part of the AXES Division, focuses on collaborative R&D projects with research labs, universities, and industry participants, developing proof-of-concepts and technologies to deploy.
The US Energy team covers topics related to Power System Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Protection and Control, Renewable Integration, Smart Grid applications, in both the Electromagnetic Transient Simulation and Phasor Simulation domains. Your role within the company will be to act as an expert in power system simulations within the US Energy team in the AXES Division.
Your Main Tasks- Executing on government-funded R&D projects and consulting projects that address multi-timescale (RMS-EMT) power systems and power electronics simulation (offline and real-time).
- Collaborating with business development teams on developing new R&D proposals and transitioning R&D concepts to product.
- Publishing and presenting technical papers at technical conferences and workshops.
- Represent OPAL-RT in working groups and task forces at external technical and professional organizations such as IEEE, CIGRE, ESIG, NERC.
- Contribute to OPAL-RT’s technological roadmap.
- Develop models and functionalities for real-time simulators and Hardware-in-the-Loop applications.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to promote OPAL-RT products, including demonstrations and supporting pre-sales and post-sales customer projects.
- Assist in creating advanced training material on power system modeling and real-time simulation.
- Education:
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering with 3 years of experience or a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. - Solid experience in advanced electrical modeling, simulation and analysis of power system components, distributed energy resources, and power electronic converters.
- Experience with EMT simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink, PSCAD, EMTP, RT-LAB (preferred), HYPERSIM (preferred).
- Familiarity with OPAL-RT tools such as HYPERSIM, eMEGASIM, ePHASORSIM, eFPGASIM.
- Programming experience in C/C++, Python for developing custom models and scripts.
- Strong understanding of power systems, renewable energy and microgrids, modeling techniques, power converters and controls, hardware-in-loop simulations.
- Independent, curious, organized, good interpersonal communication, rigor and determination, analytical and adaptable.

- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
