Overview
Zurich North America is seeking a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant OR Risk Engineering Specialist with extensive experience in power plant operations to join the Global Energy – Power Generation team. This is a work-from-home role ideally within Western U.S. (will consider other U.S. locations). Travel up to 50% to service accounts across the U.S.
Responsibilities- Perform field and desktop assessments of power generation plants and associated equipment.
- Develop risk improvement actions (recommendations) to help clients mitigate risks.
- Provide advanced risk assessment of plant machinery and fire protection equipment risks and associated business interruption within the power generation industry.
- Provide consultative services to customers, including identifying exposures with significant loss potential, investigating cause/effect of major losses, and supporting management programs.
- Provide power generation training for Risk Engineering staff, Underwriting staff, customers, service design and coordination; mentoring, marketing, and loss investigations.
- Manage account risk portfolio and provide account-level engineering to meet underwriting requirements.
- Market Zurich products in conjunction with underwriting professionals and agents across company segments.
- Develop and implement customer service strategies that reduce loss and improve operations.
Final candidates will be subject to a Motor Vehicle record background check; position may include a company car depending on location and expected mileage.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- Senior Risk Engineering Consultant:
Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years in Power Generation Risk Engineering, or High School Diploma/Equivalent with 8+ years in Power Generation Risk Engineering, or Zurich Certified Apprentice with Associates degree and 6+ years in Power Generation Risk Engineering, plus experience working in a team environment. - Risk Engineering Specialist:
Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years in Risk Engineering, or High School Diploma/Equivalent with 10+ years in Risk Engineering, or Zurich Certified Apprentice with Associates degree and 8+ years, plus knowledge of exposures, controls and best practice risk improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years in Risk Engineering or power generation plant ops/maintenance with machinery operation/maintenance or assessment.
- Military experience in propulsion plants and power generation equipment.
- Related energy industry experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Advanced knowledge of exposures controls.
- Advanced knowledge within industry segment.
- Certification in area of specialty;
Risk Engineering Power Generation Machinery Breakdown assessments.
Compensation ranges are nationwide with location and experience factors. The combined salary range is $98,300 - $185,100
. The proposed ranges:
Senior Risk Engineering Consultant $98,300 - $161,100 (short-term incentive 15%);
Risk Engineering Specialist $113,100 - $185,100 (short-term incentive 20%).
