Lead Field Service Electronics Technician

Eaton’s Critical Power Solutions (CPS) Division is seeking a Lead Field Service Electronics Technician to join our team of world‑class customer service professionals in the Greater Los Angeles, CA/Thousand Oaks, CA region. Candidates must reside within a 45‑mile radius of Thousand Oaks, CA. This position is remote, from a home office, with daily travel to customer sites – a company vehicle is provided.

Expected annual salary range: $77,625 – $113,850. Salaries are based on experience, qualifications and market conditions.

What You’ll Do

In this role you will perform on‑site emergency repairs, start‑up services, and preventative maintenance in an on‑call environment with regional responsibility. Products include UPS systems, power distribution units, batteries, and other electronic equipment. You will provide technical support to customers and serve as a technical advisor for operational or maintenance aspects of system equipment.

Basic (Required) Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Power Systems, Battery technologies and/or Electronics (coursework and internship experience applicable).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted State Driver’s license.
  • Must reside within the greater Los Angeles, CA area; active duty military service members are exempt from the geographic requirement.
  • Eaton does not sponsor immigration for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or a related field from an accredited institution or current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with Power Systems, Battery Technologies and/or Electronics.
  • Ability to read schematic drawings and knowledge of troubleshooting, test and repair techniques.
  • Electrical Technology Certificate from an accredited institution.
Position Success Criteria
  • Up to 75% travel expected.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo and pass customer entrance requirements including background checks and drug screenings.
  • Ability to work with other CSEs and accept directions from the lead CSE on site.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform repetitive lifting, pushing/pulling, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, kneeling, and driving extended distances.
  • Good understanding of single‑phase and three‑phase circuit theory, analog and digital electronic circuit theory, and microprocessor controls and programming.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscope use, phase rotation and alignment checks.
  • Basic understanding of network functionality, sealed and wet‑cell battery theory and application.
  • Proper use of hand‑tools and insulated tools where appropriate.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with company and customer safety rules.
  • Demonstrated proficiency on products and field processes before dispatch; provide high‑quality service; self‑starter and motivator.
  • PC proficiency:
    Microsoft Windows, Office, Outlook; strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Occasional support of customer needs outside the immediate region within the USA.
