Role Overview Leybold Vacuum (Atlas Copco Group) seeks a Sales Engineer to deliver service solutions that extend equipment life. The high‑impact role blends technical expertise with customer‑facing sales to help clients boost process efficiency by applying the VTS Service Ladder.

Main Responsibilities

  • Split time between home office and on‑site visits to advanced factories, promoting the VTS Service Ladder.
  • Sell service products by identifying failure modes and offering solutions to reduce downtime and maximize cost of ownership.
  • Support markets: metallurgy, architectural glass, energy physics, food tech, aerospace, EV, freeze drying, SiC, ceramics and more.
  • Expand business in assigned region by growing existing accounts and identifying new opportunities.
  • Provide technical support, service and product guidance to delight customers.
  • Maintain company assets (car, computer, demo units, consignment stock).
  • Lead service sales efforts across Leybold’s product range.
  • Collaborate with equipment sales team to secure repeat orders and position service as a differentiator.
  • Prepare and deliver service presentations.
  • Focus on new business: unserviced pumps, lost accounts, due‑for‑service units, new installs and competitor equipment.
  • Analyze customer needs and coordinate with internal teams to deliver complete vacuum after‑sales solutions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering, science, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Proven ability to generate leads via cold calling, research, networking and territory development.
  • On‑site, customer‑facing experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
  • Able to learn and convey technical concepts clearly.
  • Skilled in creating tailored solutions by leveraging internal technical resources.
  • Collaborative and engaging team player.
  • Prioritization and task management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Sales‑driven mindset with technical operations or rotating equipment background.
  • High energy, curiosity, results‑oriented and creative problem solving.
  • Valid driver’s license required; mechanical, vacuum or fluid systems knowledge is a plus.

Benefits & Compensation

Competitive base salary + relocation assistance, comprehensive medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick, holiday pay, 401(k) with matching, short‑term and long‑term disability. Location‑based pay ranges: $78,206.90 – $ (NY), $81,679.20 – $ (CT and MA).
