Position SummaryThe Systems Engineer II will support engineering, integration, testing, and modernization efforts for DISA’s enterprise cyber sensing capabilities. This position directly contributes to the development and integration of new and enhanced sensing solutions including the Open Sensor Platform (OSP), Full Packet Capture (FPCAP), Automated Security Validation (ASV), the Intrusion Detection System (IDS), and emerging cyber sensing technologies. The role involves requirements analysis, system design, lab integration, performance testing, and interoperability validation across cloud, on‑premises, and lab environments.
This is a remote position supporting the Pensacola region with occasional CONUS travel.
- Support engineering, integration, testing, and modernization activities for DISA’s sensing capabilities in accordance with Task Area 6.5.
- Assist in decomposing system requirements, documenting functional and technical specifications, and ensuring traceability using Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM).
- Support the development of system diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), architecture updates, and design documentation under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Integrate sensing systems—including OSP, FPCAP, ASV, IDS—into development, lab, cloud, and production representative test environments.
- Assist with installation, configuration, and validation of sensing hardware and software components including VMs, servers, appliances, network devices, and storage.
- Support execution of regression, performance, integration, and interoperability tests ensuring sensing capabilities meet mission, performance, and security requirements.
- Perform troubleshooting, defect replication, and technical analysis in the sensing lab environment with support from senior engineering staff.
- Collect and analyze system performance data, logs, sensor output, and test artifacts to support engineering assessments.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including test procedures, test scripts, lab setup guides, engineering notes, and system configuration records.
- Collaborate with software developers, network engineers, cybersecurity teams, and Government personnel to ensure integrated and validated sensing solutions.
- Support Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) and Critical Design Reviews (CDRs) with technical inputs and engineering artifacts.
- Assist in preparing engineering reports, white papers, updates, and integration status materials for Government review.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Four (4) to seven (7) years of experience in systems engineering, integration, or test engineering.
- Experience with system integration, validation, requirements analysis, or system design in DoD, cybersecurity, or enterprise IT environments.
- Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows system administration, networking fundamentals, and virtualization technologies.
- Experience supporting testing activities such as integration, regression, performance validation, or functional testing.
- Familiarity with DISA cyber sensing tools, RMF, or cybersecurity technologies highly desired.
- Ability to develop and follow technical documentation and engineering processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
